Improvisation of Machining Parameters for Better Surface Finish of MMC Material using Taguchi Method

Metal matrix composite is used in engineering applications due to its superior mechanical properties. MMC’s are reinforced with particle fiber, whisker, and particulate. The size of particulates classified as micro, nano, macro. particulate have excellent form-ability compared fiber whisker composite. has outstanding wear, heat resistance, Many authors been stated the property ability workpiece material be machined or it refers response machining normally applied properties work indicates how easily fast a can machined. MMC materials difficult machine surface finish. In this study Al6061 Silicon Carbide Graphite fabricated 5 weight % using squeeze casting route. Tensile strength hardness tested according ASTM standards result, there was an increase tensile MMC. Machining process parameters plays vital role defining roughness. This optimized get better finish results. Taguchi techniques used. To affecting for roughness identified. Orthogonal array L9 selected based on three levels. There played by feed rate increasing material. Relevant considered are, cutting speed 300RPM, 0.13 mm/rev, depth cut 0.4mm.
